[What a thoughtful gesture, offering to make her favorite tea. It was no wonder Hubert liked Annette! Not to mention how very beautiful she is. Edelgard put her cape on over her shoulders and headed to Annette's bakery in good spirits.]

[She arrived not too long after that, looking around the bakery and taking in the decor. No wonder Hubert smelled so nice when he came home. The whole building smelled strongly of cinnamon and buttercream. Unfortunately for Annette, charmed as she was, Edelgard's resting face was unintentionally a bit intense.]

[ earl grey it is! Annette lays the set out: a perfectly brewed pot with the tea bags removed, a saucer of milk, sugar and some homemade biscuits. she has even placed a small vase of wildflowers on the table that she picked herself. as she anticipates Edelgard's arrival she could feel herself work up into a bit of a frenzy, but. it's fine! she's fine! hahahahahaahahaha! ~~goddess give her strength!~~

when she sees Edelgard enter with her tense face, she panics internally. and stutters out a greeting, unable to hide her slight spook. ]

H-Hello! [ there's no title or name dropped here because ... what is she supposed to call her? your majesty? empress??? mmm! she'll figure it out soon... probably! ]

[At last, upon being greeted, Edelgard smiled. It was maybe a bit formal, but... genuine.]

Annette pours and stirs the cream into Edelgard's tea before placing the tea spoon on the appropriate side plate. when she starts to administer her own cream, she does spook a little in surprise once the other woman announces her reason for being here - oh goodness! a stray drop to lands on her saucer - which she promptly dabs with a napkin. ]

A-Ah! I see! Oh, gracious, I ... [ Annette folds the napkin and fidgets with it slightly, feeling her face burn up in colour from embarrassment. might as well go ahead and rip the band-aid off to spare herself any potential humiliation. ] I'm not ... in trouble, am I?

In... trouble? Wh--- No, Annette, of course not![Edelgard seemed mortified by the idea. Had Annette truly believed she was angry?]

No, no trouble at all. Let me explain--- In my timeline, I was originally engaged to be married to my Byleth. However, she was also teaching me about how to be non-monogamous in a healthy, trusting way, because she was aware of my feelings for Hubert and was encouraging me to pursue a secondary romantic relationship with him.

When I came here, I became separated from my fiancée. But her ideals resonated with me, especially as I began to connect with the Hubert here. I could find happiness and love in Amani, and it wouldn't be betraying my betrothed. Recently, Hubert and I have entered such a relationship with the same understanding. I asked that we be forthcoming with each other about additional romantic interests, and he told me of you.

So, in the interest of fostering a good connection between the two of us and ultimately working together to bring happiness to Hubert's life, I came to meet you. If we are both going to be seeing him, I thought it would better serve all three of us if you and I became friends. No, no, nowhere near forbidden. I can hardly tell you how glad I am that he's finally seeking his own happiness. He's had very little opportunity to do so, given our circumstances, especially when it doesn't revolve around me. I want to see him grow past that, and you have been the first step.
